Everything's on sale at the same time and I can't deal.

It's a sale emergency and I just had to tell someone.

Everything's on sale at the same time and I can't deal.

You’re reading This Heaven Gives Me Migraine, a shopping newsletter about searching for lasting pleasures in a world of disposable garbage. Quick note: We have moved to Ghost, a platform that looks and feels almost exactly like Substack but isn't funded by far-right investors. If you're a subscriber, your subscription should've been migrated already, but please be sure to add This Heaven to your contacts so nothing winds up in spam! Thanks!

I had plans to put together a Mother's Day gifting guide for you all, but this is basically as close to a newsletter emergency as they come. Maybe it's the economy, maybe it's the looming gallows of impending tariffs, maybe this is just the spring rush and I've managed to ignore its breadth in past years, but every.fucking.thing. I encounter is on sale right now. And not just piddly 15%-offs, either. Real discounts.

So, while I will still keep working toward some Mother's Day content, I had to send out a SPECIAL BULLETIN of very desirable things that are on sale right now. Read on for a mix of homewares, clothing and more.

1) If you're in the market for a dining table — admittedly not usually an impulse purchase... Moooi Zio Dining Table, $2248 (formerly $6826)

I first became aware of Moooi, the high-design Dutch furnishings company known for their innovative and impressive light fixtures, when I was writing some editorial content for a high-end modern furniture store in maybe 2019-2020. The owner of the furniture store introduced me to Moooi's stunning and imaginative "meshmatics" chandelier and it has lived rent-free in my mind ever since. (The way it casts light is truly one of the coolest tricks I've ever seen.) Long story short, it's insane to be able to snap up any Moooi designs at sample sale prices, and the sample sale linked above not only has quite a selection of their dazzling light fixtures, but it also features beautiful-yet-hardworking pieces like this dining table. Made from solid oak, this table's lines are so appealing, making it look special and unique, while (at the discount) costing basically the same as some mass-produced Crate & Barrel stuff. I already have a dining table I absolutely love (not from Moooi), but if I didn't, I would be knee-deep in the checkout process right now. The sample sale ends in 3 days, so consider yourself warned! Pro tip: the light fixture pictured with the table in the header image above is also part of the sale, and it's an absolute steal clocking in under $900. I would also buy this, for my red-purple bedroom, if I could.

2) If you have outdoor summer weddings on your agenda, or are planning a nice European getaway this spring... WRAY NYC Vanessa Dress, $292 (formerly $365)

Inclusive-sizing New York brand WRAY is another one of the small fashion producers who helped shape a certain mid-aughts fashion girl aesthetic and is now unfortunately shuttering. (Seriously, I'm keeping a list of the 2024-2025 indie brand casualties. It's a long list.) But before they close, you can still shop from a pretty deep selection of wear-now pieces from their final collection. The Vanessa dress is still in stock in most sizes in this striking Scarlet colorway, with a versatile-yet-decidedly-unboring silhouette that feels like it's tapping into some of the sort of romantic, Pannier-inspired shapes I've been seeing lately. The square neckline is pretty universally flattering, and I could see this being dressed down for summer sightseeing with some Mary Jane sneakers (another current trend), or a graphic block heel, or dressed up for an outdoor wedding with a strappy sandal with some texture to it.

3) If you're looking for a new pair of sandals to wear all season... Freda Salvador Sera Fisherman Sandal, $360 (was $450)

Speaking of shoes. Freda Salvador's Friends & Family sale is on now, and I've been eyeing these so-called fisherman sandals. The oversized studs are available in either gold or silver (I feel like a subtle gold metallic detail is weirdly hard to find in this category???), and the chunky straps of this silhouette feel like a smart way to sort of nod at the resurgence of the Gladiator sandal trend without plunging yourself back into the cringe waters of the last time we had the Gladiator sandal trend. (If you are old enough to remember, as I am—we simply cannot go back to those rustic, laced-to-the-kneecaps sandals paired with minidresses. We simply cannot.) A fisherman sandal with some heft to it is a nice way to say, "Yes, I have observed that we are doing architectural sandals again. But I am not interested in blindly following you all back into the annals of fashion missteps, thankyouverymuch."

Or, if you're more of a "classics" person, Freda also has these delightfully timeless loafers on sale. I have a few pairs of shoes from Freda, and they're very well made, so I think you'll get tons of mileage out of these. They'll never go out of style and they'll never haunt you when you look back at pictures of yourself wearing them.

(By the way, we're also not doing Jellies again. I flat-out refuse.)

4) If you've been looking for a new signature scent... Comme Des Garçons COPPER, $139 (formerly $185)

SSENSE is currently running 25% off select full-price styles across all categories, and there's a lot to love in the mix (including some bizarre Gohar World crustacean spoons, which you should definitely buy), but as The Strategist recently pointed out, there's also a tidy-but-significant collection of fragrances that the discount applies to. These are fragrances that don't often go on sale, from the likes of Diptyque, DS & DURGA, Serge Lutens, Tom Ford, and more—but I was most excited to see CGD's COPPER among the ranks. This is a fragrance I've had on my to-buy list for a while after bringing home a sample several years back. It's one of those fragrances that smells...like a temperature. It's hot and cold. It's very hard to describe, but it's unique and arresting. I'm very tempted to nab it.

Other scents in the sale I can recommend: Radio Bombay, which also has a weird temperature thing going on, with what somehow smells like a zip of radio static...Basilico & Fellini, my essential high-summer scent, with mouthwatering notes of basil and fruit buzzing past you on a Vespa...Mississippi Medicine, a funky, heady, smokey soup of ancient ritual. There are plenty of would-buy-at-full-price scents in here to keep you busy. (I've also heard good things about Crystal Saffron, but not sampled it myself.)

Bonus: If you have the weird Capital One shopping plug in and one of their cards, SSENSE gives you 3.5% cash back on top of the discount. Promo stacking!!!!

5) If you're gearing up for Goth Summer... Damson Madder Bluebell Midi Dress, $98 (was $140)

Damson Madder also has a pretty far-reaching sale on, with up to 40% off all manner of things you'll want to wear this spring. Their style can be a bit all-over-the-place, if you ask me, swinging from tomboy-chic to these decidedly Bow Girl Adjacent midi-dresses, but I'm here for it. This organic cotton dress feels like a serious bargain at $98, and it's designed to be fully reversible, so you can wear the ties in the back for a more modest vibe, if you prefer. Personally, I could see myself wearing this through to summer, paired with some super graphic cat-eye sunglasses to really lean into the Dark Shadows of it all. But if you're feeling something a little more demure, there are also some really good, really insane pajamas on sale for a cool $60. (Just be sure to double-check your size selections, since the site defaults to UK sizing. A UK 14 is a US 10!)

Phew. This concludes our emergency bulletin. Happy sale shopping—we now return you to your regularly scheduled Saturdays.

If you enjoyed this—or, maybe especially, if you purchased anything from this list—hit reply to let me know. And be sure to subscribe to This Heaven in its new home on Ghost if you haven't already!
